Parker Set For Ring Return

Ten months after a severe hand injury brought a premature end to his world title bout with John Ryder , BCB trained Zach Parker returns to the ring, Saturday night, at the Wembley Arena in London.

The 29 year old has been matched with the experienced Frenchman Khalid Graidia who has gone the distance with both Dan Azeez and Karol Itauma.

The Swadlincote native suffered his first career loss after he was forced to pull out at the end of round four with a broken hand.

After a competitive start that saw both men have their moments, the fight was finely poised heading in to the fifth. Unfortunately, the damage to Parkers right hand was too severe for him to continue, and he was sensibly but frustratingly pulled out by his corner.

Parker described the ailment as ‘grim’ before going under the knife and he shared images online of the swollen and heavily bruised hand.

This fight Saturday will give him a chance to let that right hand go for the first time and a win will put him back in the mix for another title shot.

Ryder went on to box pound for pound giant Canelo Alvarez in May this year and similar huge opportunities await Parker in the near future.

The bout scheduled for ten rounds is on the undercard of the Zhilei Zhang vs Joe Joyce WBO interim world title bill, live on TNT Sports Box Office.
