Harmitt Seeking The Biggest Challenge

Jasmin Harmitt wants to be active and take the biggest opportunities possible, and she will box for the second time this year on BCB Promotions ‘Summer Showdown’ on July 19th at the Dudley Town Hall.

The 26-year-old from Dudley Port is unbeaten in two contests since turning professional last June. Her debut against Angelika Oakes at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham went the distance, with Harmitt taking a 40-37 points win.

Eight months passed before she climbed through the ropes again, this time at the Bescot Stadium in Walsall against Kerry Orton coming away with another points victory.

“Weirdly, I was more nervous for my last fight than I was for my debut, said Harmitt. I knew Kerry was a good fighter, and I had been out of the ring for a long time, so those nerves were there, but I got the win, and that’s what matters most of all.

“It has been a strange time with fights falling through and having to be patient when the cancellations happen. Even though I have only had two fights, I have to make it work, and I want the big opportunities as soon as possible.

This will be the closest that the mother of one will have boxed to home, and the quietly spoken yet confident lightweight is hoping to see a good number of her supporters make the short journey to the town hall come fight night, with every ticket sold being so important.

“We are hoping for a really big turnout. It’s just before the school holidays, so a lot of people will be off the next week, so hopefully they can make it to the fight before they go.

“I want to be able to give my son something to show him that I have worked hard and achieved in the sport. I will do what it takes to get there.

The show, which is headlined by Ben Collins, is also set to feature unbeaten prospects Conor Baker and Jamie Edwards, as well as the professional debut of amateur standout Callum Latimer.

Tickets for ‘Summer Showdown’ are now priced at £40 standard and £80 ringside VIP from the boxers directly or by emailing info@bcb-promotions.com.
