Brave Beech Defeated

Brave James Beech succumbed to defeat when he took on highly touted Dennis McCann in London on Saturday evening.

The Bloxwich boxer took on ‘Dennis The Menace’ for the vacant WBC International Silver Featherweight Title on a Frank Warren promotion at the Copperbox live on BT Sport.

McCann was stepping up from super bantamweight on the back of 12 straight victories since turning professional in 2019.

Beech on the other hand came into the contest on the back of two wins since losing to Chris Bourke for the WBC International Super Bantamweight Title almost a year to the day.

McCann caught Beech in the opening stanza with a flurry of shots, putting him down. The Walsall fighter recovered well but McCann showed the quality that his promoter Frank Warren believes will see him become a world champion.

Beech kept it competitive as he worked off a competent jab and landed a number of right hooks as he looked to push McCann back. One such jab led to a cut above McCann’s right eye but ‘The Menace’ hit back and bloodied Beech’s face as the contest progressed.

His slick southpaw style was hard to breakdown as he kept himself tucked behind an unpredictable jab.

Swollen and bruised, Beech’s corner righty threw in the towel one minute 44 seconds into the eighth round as McCann swarmed and sensed blood.

Despite defeat the popular Black Country boxer can hold his head high after giving McCann his toughest test to date.
