Season’s Beatings

Jermaine Osbourne-Edwards produced a Christmas cracker of a performance in his hometown of Wolverhampton as he topped the bill in only his second professional fight.

‘The Caveman’ blew away Bulgarian Krasimir Vasilev inside a round at a packed Hangar Events Centre last night (Sunday).

The 32 year-old ticket seller had his opponent down five times in the opening stanza before referee-for-the-evening Shaun Messer has seen enough and waved the contest off after two minutes and 33 seconds.

Every time Osbourne-Edwards landed, Vasilev looked pained before an accurate body shot dumped him to the canvass for a final time to take his ledger to 2-0.

There were four home wins on the undercard of BCB Promotions’ Season’s Beatings show.

Stablemates of Osbourne-Edwards, Ollie Cooper and Alex round, made it a hat-trick of victories for Richie Carter’s Wolverhampton Boxing Club.

Ollie Cooper dispatched of Paul Cummings 40-37 whilst Alex Round also edged past Kevin McCauley 40-37.

Cannock’s Cooper picked his shots well against a similarly tall and rangy opponent in Cummings to move to 2-0. Wolverhampton’s Round also moved to 2-0 but certainly didn’t have it all his own way against the teak tough McCauley. Round, as with Cooper, will have learnt much from the fight.

Richie Ghent trained duo, Ruben Campbell and Oli Cassidy, were also successful.

Campbell squeezed past Sean Davis 39-38 and Cassidy recorded a shut-out 40-36 win over MJ Hall.

Campbell blew off the ring rust after almost three years out of the ring to claim the scalp of Davis, a former WBC International Super Bantamweight Champion whilst Cassidy moved to 3-0 with a routine win.

BCB Promotions are back in action on both the 17th and 19th December at the H Suite, Birmingham.
