Double Trouble Part II Show Review

BCB Promotions ambitious doubleheader of boxing this weekend culminated in a solid five fight card at the H Suite, Birmingham, on Sunday evening.

After an eventful Saturday show which saw the likes of Ryan Kelly and Kane Baker record valuable victories; it was the turn of Shaun Cooper, Tom Brennan, Vicky Wilkinson, Dylan Cheema and Tommy Collins to showcase their talent on Sunday night.

Worcester’s Tom Brennan kicked the show off with an entertaining 4×3’s with roadwarrior, Paul Cummings.

The contest ebbed and flowed as Brennan tried to negate the obvious reach advantage that Cummings, the taller and rangier of the two, had.

Cummings did catch Brennan in the second round but the Swindon Town fanatic held and gathered himself before returning to his game plan to land a 39-37 victory.

Next up saw a Midlands Derby between Willenhall’s Shaun Cooper and Birmingham’s Sean Davis.

Cooper, trained by former British Champion Martin Gethin, started well, boxing on the front foot.

The Scorpion was catching Davis with stinging blows but credit to Showtime who absorbed them and tried to close the gap at every opportunity.

Cooper ran out a deserved 40-37 winner though as he looks to get back amongst the title mix in the coming months.

Next up was Vicky Wilkinson who was making her pro debut at the age of 37.

Wilkinson, from Darlaston, took on Stoke’s Beccy Ferguson over 4×2’s.

In an entertaining encounter, it was the debutant who picked up a 39-37 win.

Birmingham’s Dylan Cheema made his pro bow after a stellar kickboxing career.

‘The Natural’ stepped in with Lee Connolly and, as with Wilkinson beforehand, recorded a 39-37 win.

Connolly played his part though and pushed Cheema all the way. To his credit though, Cheema kept to his game plan to make it a winning start to the pro game.

Popular Birmingham boxer, Tommy Collins, topped the bill against foreign opposition.

The 23 year-old Blue Nose took on Ukraine’s Vitalii Maksymiv.

He didn’t disappoint his army of fans as he eased to a 40-36 shut out win to move to 4-0 in the pro ranks.

BCB Promotions’ next show takes place at Walsall FC on Sunday, 14th November.
