Professional boxing will soon be returning to Bedford in the form of a stacked seven-fight card with two hometown favourites.
BCB Promotions are staging the Sunday afternoon show at the Corn Exchange on September 5, which has been titled ‘Bedlam in Bedford.’
Michael Stephenson and Lester Daniel are the local favourites appearing in the home corner, both featuring in super middleweight affairs against away adversaries
Stephenson is the more experienced having racked up five pro contests, all of those being held at the Corn Exchange. He had his hand raised on four occasions.
After debuting with an over-the-distance whitewash over Darryl Sharp, he was stunned by Danny Shannon who nudged over the line by a point, handing Stephenson his first defeat.
He’s since rebounded to beat Casey Blair, Tsvetozar Illiev and Gianni Antoh on points, without even dropping a round even if a maiden TKO has eluded him.
Kenyan-born southpaw Daniel turned over in March, decking Antoh in the third round before his opponent withdrew, citing a groin injury.
Title contender Connor Parker also features and will be travelling from Swadlincote in Derbyshire, for what will be his 15th pro outing.
He has held the Midlands super lightweight crown and gone for WBO European honours, losing out on the latter to Sam Maxwell, after being halted in the seventh.
Parker had reeled off 13 victories beforehand and has gotten back to winning ways since, outpointing Eligio Palacios. His only early night, against Kevin Harper, was for the area belt.
Three debutants complete the line-up, making the trip from Northampton, all boxing out of the Team Shoe-Box gym in the town.
Sam Daly has been waiting over two years to punch for pay, but can call upon an amateur grounding from Kings Heath Boxing Club where his father, Arthur, is the head coach.
