Danny Ball Ready For Some Irish Fun

Danny Ball is feeling confident of winning on the road when he faces unbeaten Paddy Donovan on the undercard of Chantelle Cameron vs Katie Taylor in Dublin Saturday night.

The 27-year-old from Kingswinford has made the journey across the Irish channel knowing he will be heading into a partisan crowd at the packed out 3 Arena.

“The opportunity is amazing, it’s what I have been wanting for a long time, I always want the top challenges, and this is what I have Saturday. You will see the best of me when I get to put on a big performance on the biggest stage”.

Ball is on a three-fight winning streak following a tough loss for the British welterweight title against Ekow Essuman in 2021 in which he suffered a double jaw fracture.  The former WBC silver champion returned after surgery and a six-month layoff at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham beating Dale Arrowsmith on points A moral boosting stoppage win against Peter Aleksandrov followed before Ball landed an English title shot against ‘Ginger Rocket’ Jamie Robinson.

The fight which took place on the Leigh Wood Mauricio Lara under card at the Manchester Arena was a one-sided affair with Robinson dropped in the second and shipping punches throughout before his corner mercifully put a stop to the beating in the eighth round.

That performance has helped Ball get another TV slot this time against Limericks Donovan who has looked impressive, racking up eleven wins since turning over in 2019 when he signed a deal with hall of fame promoter Bob Arum. Katie Taylor’s homecoming represented a chance for the 2016 world youth championship competitor to box back in Ireland and he signed with Matchroom Boxing soon after.

“I don’t watch much of any opponent, I trust my team and the work and sparring I have done make me feel prepared for any one and anything that comes my way”.

“The pressure isn’t on me, I’m just going to do what I do best which is be cool, calm and collected, all the pressure is on Paddy that’s why it’s so dangerous for him I can just have fun.

“It is great to be back on DAZN on such a big show hopefully this will become the norm for me going forward”.
