More Thrills & Spills For Matt Swiggy Craddock

There could be more thrills and spills from Matt Craddock as he continues to be a game addition to the lower weights.

He goes again when BCB Promotions stage their next show at the H Suite in Edgbaston, Birmingham, on the Sunday afternoon of July 10.

Craddock has only engaged in six pro fights so far, but is establishing a reputation of being in exciting contests, evidenced by his last outing in February.

He dropped erstwhile campaigner Steven Maguire in the second session of their six-rounder, only to be dumped on the canvas himself, during the third.

They both saw the final bell, where Craddock had his hand raised through a 58-55 scoreline, to record his fifth victory as a pro.

That was his third straight six-round affair, also going the distance with Stephen Jackson last November. That finished 58-56 to Craddock.

Those were both staged at super bantam, but he sees his future in the bantamweight division, where he’s planning to campaign towards potential title opportunities.

Prior to that, ‘Swiggy’ notched his first stoppage, with opponent Ricky Starkey’s corner throwing in the towel, as his nose was badly bloodied, as round five progressed.

He suffered his first pro defeat in 2020, but showed his mettle to see the finish, despite being down twice in the sixth and final round. Adversary Jack Bateson settled for a 60-52 verdict.

Craddock’s debut year was 2019, outpointing Jake Pollard on his debut, prevailing by a 39-37 decision, before shutting out Luke Fash by a 40-36 whitewash.

The 32-year-old, who is from Kings Norton, is now back on home turf, with fellow Brummie Spencer McCracken Jnr in his corner.

He’s following on from his amateur career, which was largely spent at the now-defunct Ironworks Boxing Club, with 17 victories from 30 bouts.

Craddock’s hard work in the ring mirrors his profession. By day, he’s a groundworker and is employed by the Fitzpatrick Group.

Tickets for the H Suite bill are available, priced at £40 standard or £75 VIP ringside with buffet, directly from the boxers or by visiting myfighttickets.com.
