Vaughan Too Hot To Handle Crushes Hunt In A Round

Back-to-back first-round demolition jobs from Ben Vaughan, who moved one step closer to a British title shot, completely dismantled the previously unbeaten Dom Hunt in less than two minutes at the Magna Centre in Rotherham.

The 25-year-old welterweight from Northampton made an electric start, throwing his left hand with snap and accuracy, dashing Hunt in the opening seconds. Both men were exchanging shots, but Hunt was getting countered at every turn by a barrage of head and body shots that he simply couldn’t avoid.

A clinical combination of punches sent Hunt tumbling to the canvas for just the second time in his career, and Vaughan sensed another early night’s work. The 32-year-old from Wakefield bravely made it to his feet, but he got no restbite as Vaughan pounced on him with a flurry of shots, forcing referee Darren Sargeson to waive the fight off at 1.38 of the opener.

This fight served as an eliminator for the British Welterweight Title, but after such stunning performances, first against Liam Gould and now Ron Hunt, ‘The Bomber’ may get a shot at the big one sooner rather than later. Incredible performance from Ben and a testament to the hard work put in by his team at the Shoe-Box gym.
