11th Hour Ewbank Steps In

After Jamie Stewart was forced to pull out of tomorrow’s main event over concerns around his brain scan, undefeated Jack Ewbank stepped in at the 11th hour.
Receiving the call on Wednesday evening, Ewbank didn’t need a second invitation to step in and top the bill against hometown Wolf, Conah Walker.
“I got the call and confirmed it at 19:30 Wednesday night!” He said.
“I’m alway fit and ready and when the call came I thought ‘why not I’m in the game to have a good time’.
“It’s been a frustrating two years and I just want to fight.”

Turning professional in 2018, Ewbank has worked his way up to 4-0 and puts that record on the line against fellow undefeated fighter Walker (9-0-1).

With a name like ‘Ewbank’ and nicknamed ‘Dempsey’, the road seemed fairly clearly mapped out yet it wasn’t until he was 24 that Ewbank “dedicated himself fully” to boxing.

Having taken the sport up at 15, Ewbank’s amateur achievements were substantial nonetheless; he reached two national finals and claimed the silver medal at the Haringey Box Cup.

Hailing from Kent and training under Billy Rumbol, the heavily-tattooed Ewbank likes to ski and wakeboard in his spare time.

He’s ready to rumble Friday evening at The Hangar though and has Walker firmly in his sights.“I don’t know much about Conah,” he’d admitted. “I haven’t had anytime to look at him but I don’t need to know much. I’ll just go in there and do my best.

“I’ll be coming to keep my 0 that’s the main thing.”

Walker and Ewbank weigh-in at The Hangar today – Thursday – at 1:30pm. The event is free to the public to attend and we’ll be giving away a pair of tickets to what is fast approaching a SELL OUT Show!

The undercard is stacked with local talent with Wolverhampton’s Kirstie Bavington, debutants Jermaine Osbourne-Edwards (Wolverhampton), Alex Round (Wednesfield), Lewis Morris (Walsall) and Ollie Cooper (Cannock) all in action alongside Dudley’s Ethan Collins
VIP Tickets for the Hangar bill have all sold out and there will be no ticket sales on the evening. A handful of standard tickets priced at £40 plus booking fee are available from MyFightTickets.com.
