Davies Happy With Progress

Ryan ‘Stewart’ Davies is happy with his progress so far as a professional boxer.

‘Rhino’ has fought 7 times since turning over from kick-boxing last year, winning 6 times.

The 25 year-old has stepped down from welterweight, where he suffered his solitary lost at the fists of experienced Rob Hunt, and is now chasing titles in his new weight class.

Davies features on BCB Promotions’ ‘Things That Go Bump In The Night’ at Walsall Town Hall on Saturday evening.

“I’ve been happy so far with my progress,,” he told bcb-promotions.com. “I feel like I’ve improved and learnt a lot since switching over from kickboxing, some people struggle with the transition but I feel like it’s been pretty smooth for me and I’m ready for big challenges ahead now

“Saturday it’s a six rounder against Chris Adaway; he’s another very experienced fighter and a good boxer. It’s another good test for me.

“Camp has been good, I didn’t really take time off since my last fight as I just wanted to build on the previous camp, I feel very fit and strong at this new weight, 10 stone is definitely where I will be fighting at for titles now

“I’ve been sparring a lot of guys around the super lightweight division, just to get myself comfortable with the increased pace they could set at a lower weight, I’m very happy with how my sparring has gone and I’m ready to put on a dominant performance on Saturday night!

“That Midland Title is something I definitely need to get a shot at early 2019, it’s a massive goal for me and something I need to win! I am going to make a statement tonight and put myself right in contention for that 10 stone Midland Title!”

English Bantamweight Champion, Kyle Williams, from Wolverhampton, returns elsewhere on the card for the first time since claiming the national strap on June 9.

Dudley duo Danny Ball and Connor Lee Jones, a super welterweight and lightweight respectively, also feature, trained by ex-pros Robert Wright and Richard Ghent.

Central Area Heavyweight King, Kash Ali, also features.

Tickets, priced at £35 standard and £65 VIP ringside, are on sale now from the Town Hall Box Office on 0845 111 2900. It will be £40 for entry on the door.

The Grosvenor Casino Walsall, on Bentley Mill Way, are the show’s headline sponsors. They will host the after-show party (over 18’s).
